Borderlands 2 Save Editor (Revision 155)

Get the new version.

  • Bug fixes and updates to game info (“Psycho Pack”, “Loot Chest 2”, “Poker Night at the Inventory 2” DLCs) for the current Borderlands 2 patch (1.5.0).


Known problems:

  • Eridium in-editor will show up to 99, the rest is stored in a new value that’s not handled yet.
  • Expansion playthrough number and playthrough completions are also stored in a new value that’s not handled.

          Make sure you have Microsoft network 4.5. Make sure you have one folder for gibb only. Make sure you unzip the file because if you double click on the exe. File without actually unzipping it the file won’t work. That was my problem bc most files unzip automatically this one didnt. Hope this helps because I was having problems also did this and got it to work and it’s an awesome awesome program.

      i am having the same problem when i try to open up a save with the editor it has an error message saying something like invalid or unsuported version of game. i tested it by making an xbox save and saving it then trying to reload it into the editor and the same exact message how do i fix that

          Yep, same problem. Not sure what’s going on here, but it’s obviously a common error.

        Have you tried changing the file type on bottom right when you goto load? make sure it is set to xbox not pc.

        When you open your save, take note of the right side of the save’s text. You click on that to identify which console the save was made on.

            First, open your save in Modio, and then extract the SaveGame.sav from inside your save file, then when you open the editor and open a file change file type to 360 and then pick the SaveGame.sav you extracted, when you done put the SaveGame.sav back into your normal save via Modio.

      Look on the internet for a BL2_Rehasher. I had the same problem. WHen you rehash, make sure your file is in with the program, otherwise it won’t work.

    When i copy/modd my own lvl 52 gunzerker to my offline xbox profile i can play UVHM.
    When i download a lvl 61 char and copy/modd it to my offline xbox profile the game says (This level 61 character requires downloadable content that is not accessible at this time. You will not be able to earn experience beyond level 61 until additional downloadable content that raises the level cap is installed). And when i continue all the mobs are lvl 50 and so are the missions..
    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

      May the XP in the lvl61 save is higher than the XP you need for reaching level 61 and the game just can’t handle it?

      Did you try setting lvl 60 press sync button Save Editor? If it works this way you just need to kill one mob for reaching 61 i guess.

    It seems like something’s wrong with the editor. I first get my Krieg save, put a little less than a few modded guns on it, and then it says it’s unloadable… I did it before, but it didn’t say Unloadable. Any advice?

      Goto the ”Raw tab” and look for “Skill Data” then edit each skills grade to 5.

      Set my play thrus in two spots in Raw to 2…..then 1.
      Neither worked.

      It might be that the rehasher may only work for xbox and PC???? IDK if that is the problem, but if so is there a ps3 rehasher I could use?

        Don’t use rehashers, there is absolutely no need to, the save editor handles hashing of save data itself.

        PS3 saves need to be decrypted before you can edit them in the save editor, then encrypted again after editing.

      I cannot comment on the risk as I don’t play on console, the 360 and PS3 both likely have clauses in their terms of service about cheating. On PC, doesn’t matter.

      i use xbox, i have never goten banned, but have goten a corruopted file, dont mes w/ rerved section or w/ #’s in raw tab, if you do hardcore modding like me w/ massive drop lobbies and level 9999 ch’s don’t go online showing all your stuff people like gearbox and micosoft can get you banned
      need any thing in bl2 like a sertin modded gun all skins or anythg msg on xbox gt= ChainedTank

    So I made a level 56 siren. And I synced the EXP. It was like 5 million or something. Point being, when ever I go in game, and go to the mission tab, on the bottom it shows the 5 million number and it’s constantly there. I can’t level correctly. The bar is always empty as well. When I kill stuff and gain exp, I receive some blue at the very beginning but when I relog, it’s all gone and the number is still there.
    Is there a way to fix this? I’d like to level normally

    Ok, i have downloaded the editor and unzipped it and it didn’t work. i was instructed to install .NET Framework v4.0 and when i went to do so it downloaded and installed v4.5. now it tells me to download v4.0 when i try to open it from the unzipped file and it tells me to download v4.0.30319 if I open the folder above the application icon that also contains an application icon.

    How do I get the editor to work????? thank you

    i have been modding this game on the 360 sense gibbed came out, but i am getting a corrupted file no matter what i do now, i save rehash and resign the savegame.sav in the right file, i have the latest revision, i change my level to 50 and make black weapons in the bank and THAT IS IT! why does it corrupt?
    i try using horizon to put it back in aswell and it gives me this error
    invalid signiture type detected for the loaded package. haulting reading. please make sure that the file is a valid xbox 360 xcontent package (live, pirs, con) and i save it as xbox 360 yes -_-
    i tried running it as an admin, did not help -_-

    Whenever I put the save back on my xbox it says !corrupted!, I used modi the save is changed to save0002, I tried rehashing it with the SHA1 fixer, but it just keeps saying corrupted, all I did was change my class and character name, made sure everyhting matched up in modio aswell

    Hey guys? I need help. I have downloaded both the .net framework and the gibbed save editor. I take a USB, configure it to XBOX 360, and copy my level 9 Kreig save onto the USB. I plug the USB into my computer, open the save game editor, and click “open”. I click on the USB, but I can’t find the file. How do I fix this? I’ve also tried creating a brand new save game and using that one on my XBOX, but when I go to play, it reads as if the USB was empty. How can I fix this issue?

    Hi, I just used Gibbed’s for a PC save but when I choose the Goliath Head for the assassin and save, I get back in game and the head isn’t applied..any ideas?

      It’s because the goliath head is considered DLC, and you have to have the DLC in order for it to be correctly applied. It won’t work even if you disconnect from the Internet. You’d have to buy one of the $99.99 Diamond Loot Chests that Gearbox will be coming out with eventually.

    Ever since I DLed Kreig, BL2 thinks my assassin is now a siren even though i’ve not modded my assassin to be a siren, when i open the save on the HD it has both chars listed separately but when choosing a char to play with they both have the same name and load the same char. I even seperated them and moved the siren to usb so the HD would load assassin and still thinks its a siren I checked the modded file, it’s still set as assassin, in fact i haven’t messed with the file for awhile and it was working fine b4 the DL. Ne1 else getting this issue?

      Have selected the drop-down arrows next to the “New Item” button, and selected the appropriate DLC package? I used to have that problem until I figured that out.

    Trying to overcome the hurdle of playing playhtrough 1 and 2 with multiple characters, i decided to clone my first character which is level 50, empty his inventory and bank and then change its class, though i was able to do that, when on the main menu and i try to switch characters, it seems the game somehow recognizes the saves are the same and does not switch to a character model (on the menu) when i switch characters, usually to see the other model i have to do something like this:

    Switch to an original non-cloned character, then switch back to the original character or the cloned one. Do you know what may be causing this?

    Gameplay is unaffected, but still, it seems i need to edit one extra field somewhere.

      Espacio en la bolsa tiene que ser añadido mediante la compra al mercado negro.
      Plazas de armas tienen que ser añadidos por completar misiones de la historia, así que tenga cuidado al editar misiones de la historia.

    it seems to be an issue with several users, and i have revision 153, so i am wondering if it is because i havent updated to 155 since krieg came out..? i am not just looking to complain until somebody spoon feeds me a simple solution; i want to understand how this whole “modding” thing works and what the issue is/how to avoid it. the save file i copied to a USB and imported (through horizon) onto my desktop, then when i attempt to open it with GIBBED i get that error message. my game works just fine on my xbox too, so its not like the file is invalid/corrupt or something, i dont know much about computers, but i am failing to see through logic where the issue could be. i appreciate your time rick.

      ok so i just answered my own question. i downloaded revision 155 and now i no longer get an error message. im not sure if any of you other guys have tried it but it worked for me, so if you read this it might save both you and rick some time. now i am off to tamper with my characters.

    After I decrypt the file with bruteforce and try to put it into the save editor it doesn’t work. I’m in the gibbed save editor and I go to open, and then down to the bottom where you should be able to choose pc, xbox, or ps3. But none of those options are there. Then I click my save file and try to open it and it gives me some error, some hash thing.

    I am getting an error everytime I open the SaveGame.sav file, the error says Failed to load save: reencode mismatch. I’ve used this program multiple times and have never gotten this error before, even on this update. I have all the xbox things set to xbox, I’m using horizon correctly, and haven’t done anything different than I have before.

    I’ve noticed that with the new patch that this editor no longer works for us on PC. we can open and make edits, but when we load the character in-game, none of the edits or changes have been made. this can’t be an isolated problem either, as i have friends who also use this editor and they are having the same issues. we have check to make sure we have the prerequisites we need and all is in order, but it still won’t work. if someone could check it out, i’m sure you’ll find the same thing as i and others. we hope to hear back or see something on this soon.
