Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! Save Editor (Revision 7)

Get the new version.

  • Initial release (hotfix).
  • As this is the first release, damage to your save files could occur. Don’t use it if you don’t want to take that risk.
  • Fast Travel tab is (obviously) missing, due to changes in how that’s handled. It may return in the future.
  • I have no idea if console (PS3, 360) formats/compression was changed at all, so that may be broken.
  • Fixed some reencode issues, if you encounter more, please comment this post.
  • If you are getting a reencode issue with revision 7, try loading the save in-game, and going to Options, Gameplay and turning Vehicle Steering to traditional.
Hopefully that resolves the issue. This problem will be fixed in the next release.

Download.

If you encounter any problems (crashes, etc), feel free to comment this post.

Is there an update for this to not corrupt my save file?

    • Benji says:

Ive used it since it came out, always kept back ups of my saves just in case, havnt had any issues yet

  3. GibbedIsGreat says:

You are awesome Gibbed, really appreciate all the work you do. Keep it up bro

  4. Battalion says:

Does it work for mac? If so how would I be able to use it.

    • thefrenchie24 says:

Well, first of all you have to download parrallels for mac, (you can get it off of pirates bay for free if you were inclined too) then you have to get windows 8.1 or other version to upload into the program (also available for free off of pirates bay). In that way, you are now able to download and use this for Mac, if you do not do so, it will not work

  5. Moxxi says:

    Does this work for mac?

  6. Coach Z says:

So I know this question was asked a while back but the answer is clearly untrue. For some reason “Paste Code” is doing absolutely nothing for me when I copy codes from the internet. If I copy a code from a gun already in my inventory THROUGH THE SAVE EDITOR ITSELF and re-paste it, it works, but nothing from the internet. The explanation someone gave before was that “not all gear is in the save editor yet,” but I’ve been unable to paste codes that OTHER people have been able to paste. In fact I haven’t found a single code from the internet that works, even codes for weapons that I already have don’t work if I copied them from the internet. And yes I’ve made sure the codes are actually on my clipboard. This never happened to me with Borderlands 2.

  7. xNeddas says:

Does anyone know how to mod the golden keys?? Thanks heaps if you do

    • GREY says:

Check “Ellipse” save editor (PC\X360), its have option to mod golden keys. This information stored in profile.bin, not in your save file

      • xNeddas says:

I’m on the ps3. Do you know what to do for that

      • xNeddas says:

I’m on the ps3. Do you know what to do for that?

        • GREY says:

No, there’s no editor for PS3 (as i know). But you can do this trick:
          1. Get as many golden keys as you can (by entering codes from Twitter, etc.)
          2. Backup profile.bin
          3. Spend keys
          4. Restore backup
          You have keys and loot!

          • smarterthanyou says:

You cannot hack golden keys with that method in the pre sequel. Since they changed how keys are stored, it doesn’t work anymore. That process did work for BL2 but not TPS

  8. hbib1 says:

Spawning in items and the active mission thing doesn’t work for me. But everything else seems to work fine.
Anyone else having the same problems?,

    • Benji says:

Not sure, havnt tried. Didnt use gibbed till I was already done with 1st character. n never really tried with others, i just play through them

  9. Robz says:

I’m on ps3 and I can’t seem to get it to work I’m on bruteforce 1.5.1 something like that and I decrypt my files then I go to open it in gibbed and it says shash1 error can u tell me what I’m doing wrong help is much appreciated !

  10. Dylan says:

I leveled up a character to about 25 in the editor; that character now does not gain levels by playing, can this be fixed?

  11. Austin says:

I encountered a problem with the save editor. Every time i have gone into brute force, decrypted a file, opened the save editor and selected files from ps3 it will give me a hash error. But if i repeat this process with borderlands 2 it works. I dont know if im doing anything wrong or i need to wait for a an update for the save editor(which is absolutely fine) im just confused and could use an explanation to save my sanity. Thanks πŸ™‚

  12. Treborjr says:

The General Skill Points are not working, any way to fix or get more skill points?

    • Treborjr says:

Never mind I found a way to get more. thank you for everything!

      • hyperventil8 (ps3) says:

How did you fix it, because whenever I add more skill points I resets my tree… please help. If anyone reply’s to this… go on youtube and type krazylyte and comment on 1 of my videos telling me you replied… thnks

  13. Sandy says:

    TIPS for PS3 user :
if u get warning invalid SHA1 hash when open decrypt save data, i have the trick to make it work and here my trick to fix it
    1. use the old bruteforce save data (3.6.8)
    2. press Ctrl + G to open games.conf
    3. copy and paste this
    ; “Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel”
    [BLUS31445/NPUB31519/NPEB02061/BLES02058/NPJB00645/BLJS10281]
    ; disc_hash_key=
    secure_file_id:*=02010508040102010508030A0F07C0D
    4. save it
    5. refresh list
    6. decrypt save data
    7. open gibbed as “PS3 Save”

    Voala, thats work
hope it can help you guys, cause thats trick work for me πŸ™‚

    sorry for my bad english

    • C. Carrigg says:

I cannot find a link to download the older version. Any ideas? The newer version will not let you save to the same file.

  14. Smoker says:

Thanks for creating this great utility!

While opening my save, a lvl18 Nisha that I haven’t modified/pasted any items on, I got the warning:
“There were items in the backpack that failed to load.”

On the off chance it’ll help fix the problem, here’s what was then copied to the clipboard:
System.FormatException: unknown asset library set 1 in packed data (this generally means new DLC that is not supported yet)
    at Gibbed.BorderlandsOz.FileFormats.Items.PackedDataHelper`2.Decode(Byte[] data, Platform platform)

  15. Sephiroth says:

Someone know how to set/unlock challenges to the max level using this already?I remember it was possible with borderlands 2 editor so i was wondering if it is possible here too since there are some very boring challenges to bring to level 5,like the grinder challenges and there are challenges that can be done only once while playng the main story as well.If anyone knows how to do it please answer here.

    • Benji says:

only thing i got to work so far is loading up a bl2 character in this gibbed version n changing characters, import missions n world then removing skill data. Mostly all the area challenges were completed other then vault symbols, n about half the #’d challenges were complete. Still not fully complete :/

      • Sephiroth says:

I see,if you find any clue on how to get them all unlocked please let me know,i have 2 bugged challenges that even if i clear them, the game doesnt unlock them.

        • Sephiroth says:

I guess that they are not all cleared cause some values in the ‘LevelUnlockChallenges’ option in the raw tab might be different and for the # challenges there are new types wich wasnt present in borderlands 2 such as lasers related challenges or gravity and slamming enemys related challenges or ice damages as well.for that we need to discover the right values but i have no idea on how to do it.

  16. DlLift says:

Problem with the Haymaker Shield when i try to load my save.

  17. D says:

Not downing the editor because im sure i will use it at somepoint but damn guys!!!! Dont you all want to at least play the game as is for a bit before cheating… What fun is there if you take the challange away instantly?

    • Richw296 says:

I only use the editor to change the scopes, barrels, stocks and grips to my preferred ones, overpowered weapons an stuff doesn’t interest me, anyway the legendary drop rate is so much higher in this game it’s unreal, I’ve found 5 legendary items just randomly, even found a Surprise Package in a garbage can…! And bought 4 other items from the vending machines along with others which you can get in a quest…!

      • w2o says:

I am looking because our moonstones keep disappearing. I use the editor in past games only to level up the guns I already had.
Right now a fix with moonstone disappearance is why I am here.

      • Navi says:

It does seem like Gearbox listened to the negative feedback, and fixed the rare spawn probabilities. I haven’t gotten too far in the game yet, but I got two green drops in the white chest immediately after getting my first Oz kit. I remember back in Borderlands 1, I farmed Crimson Fastness during my first playthrough, and pulled a Savior, Hellfire, Volcano, and Defiler. Good times, lol. So yeah, now that I know this, I don’t feel bad about building an EDDIE Oz Kit for my Wilhelm xD . In fact, I think I will now build myself a Striker as well :3 .

    • Navi says:

Yeah, I don’t build illegal gear either. In fact, back in BL2, once I started using Gibbed, I limited myself to using only purple gear for Normal mode, and I used the editor to level up my gear.

  18. J says:

When i loaded up my characters, the changes I made were valid and were there however my characters were not getting any experience. It showed the experience values, but my bar showing my experience did not fill at all

  19. xNeddas says:

Does anyone know how to get the Golden Keys modded. im on ps3 and i know how to do it for Xbox and PC. If you know, thanks heaps

  20. BET says:

Hi, when I load the game now after having used Gibbed, I get different applications minimizing my game screen back to windows. First it was origin, which I could uninstall but the next time I played it continually had steam try to re-open the game, and again again minimizing my game. Happens about every 10 seconds!

    Cheers

    BET

  21. bovian says:

I got this message when i’m trying to open the xbox 360 save file.

” Failed to load save: cannot load XBOX 360 CON files, extract using Modio or equivalent”.

I’ve tried extracting with modio and Horizon, but nothing happens. this message keeps coming.

  22. BET says:

Ignore my last comment, seems to be related to the Razer game booster. Launching via steam is fine as normal

  23. James says:

Ok how do you do the most important thing which is to mod black weapons and save them in the bank like we did on Borderlands 2? Creating weapons that are already in the game and using the grinder is easy. The fun thing about Borderlands is modding new weapons that don’t exist in the game i.e. a Vladof Shredifier shooting 32 rounds per second with Thunderfist and infinite ammo. I tried a few black weapons and they didn’t save in the bank. What am I doing wrong or did Borderlands fix it so you can’t do that on the Pre-Sequel?

    • DOMIN8 says:

The same patch that they applied to BL2 to kill hybrids in the Bank is effective on this game as well. You’ll need to be playing on PC and using CE in order to bypass the sanity check.

  24. Sven says:

Can I mod a x360 save file with this? I just want to get my claptrap to 25 to get his char specific achievement. Hoping to avoind playing through the game to get him there =/

  25. Me says:

So I don’t know what happened..
I decided to mod my Wilhelm character, get him to level 50, max money, etc
And I couldn’t remember how to edit the skill trees to max all of them out, as well as change my gun levels, all to 50, and add new weapons
    Now my Wilhelm is corrupted
    Any help..?

    • Benji says:

Hoping you made and still have a back up save of your character. if not start a new willhelm then open your new character in the editor, have the corrupt save decrypted then import stats/missions/world from the corrupt save to new willhelm. Not everything will b there but for the most part yes.
To edit the skill tree to max open up skill data in the raw tab then set all the values to 5, to add weapons or make yours at your level go to the weapons tab. to make all your lvl just hit sync all, to ad weapon just select new weapon n work your way down the options.

      • Me says:

Can people import weapons, using codes?
Cause it seems to not work..
Also, I edited my Level 1 Athena, level 50, you know, the works, and re-encrypted it, updated it, and re-installed the save profile onto my ps3 ,and it didn’t make a difference..
        She was still level 1..
        NO changes were made..
And it was still a good profile, it wasn’t corrupted, any ideas as to why that would happen??

        • Sephiroth says:

you probably did something wrong, remember you gotta save, rehash and resign on horizon when you pout back your edited save and as well remember that wehn you extract a save you gotta extract the “SaveGame.sav” file that you find in the “Contents” option when you check your save file onhorizon to exctract it,then you can mod/edit your save, after you did, remember to save before closing gibbed, then click on the SaveGame.sav present in your usb trough horizon and replace it with the modded one, after you replaxce, always click on save, rehash and resign option.

The bodys of The torgue launchers are invisible also fire/ice smg and nukem are complete invisible. Somebody an idea what went wrong? I’m playing on the xbox

  27. markiss says:

has anyone worked out how to decrypt save game on bruteforce for (PS3) ???????????? or another way ??????????????

    • Jokke says:

I had to install a newer version of bruteforce to decrypt my save I’m gonna find out what version when I get home πŸ™‚

  28. Taumer says:

I have a problem with the save editor
    1. Open the save file
    2. Add the object (optional)
    3. Saves changes
After that, when I try to open the save file, I get an error “failed to load save lzo decompression failure (inputOverrun)”
    What am I doing wrong?

    • Me says:

Make sure to set it to whatever system you’re playing on (PS3, Xbox 360, PC, etc.)
Cause if you don’t set it, it’ll be popping up that compatibility error message
It’s in the bottom right corner of the window when you are choosing your save profile

      • Taumer says:

The platform (PC) is exposed correctly. The error appears when opening already modified save.
The game also believes savefile was corrupted and restores from backup.

Sorry, if my english is bad.

  30. Andrew says:

  33. chris says:

the program opens up for me just fine but every time i try to do anything with it i keep getting an error “gibbed.borderlandsoz.saveedit.exe – bad image” it says that my C:\windows\system32\networkexplorer.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error does anyone know what i have done wrong or what the issue is??

  34. mjd says:

xbox 360. i’m using horizon to extract the save data but can’t seem to get the process correct. can someone dumb it down for me and list step by step how go through the whole process of opening, extracting, loading the file in the mod tool, re-saving it properly, etc.. thanks

  35. Nick says:

Badass Points, keeps getting re-set once you exit. – PC

  36. Gavin says:

please make a mac version of gibbeds. i cant find a single editor that supports mac.

  37. Chewy says:

I’m sorry, I know I should read all the comments, but hopefully you’re notified of new ones. If someone has already reported this, apologies for wasting your time.
There are a few blue items with red flavour text which report “failed to load backpack” when you load a file. These include moxxi’s kiss of death (quest reward) and a shield called the haymaker.
Also, the fast travel would be most welcome.
    Thank you.

  38. Steve says:

So I basically use this just to make new weapons to mess with and get money and such.. and I love it. All games need one. Just sayin. Anyway, i always wondered, whats the difference between the manufacturer grade and the game level when making weapons? Can I make a level 30 weapon that my level 5 guy can use or something? I’ve just never done it before thats all.

  39. djharris10 says:

I downloaded Revision 7, and i backed up my save with claptrap, I then experimented by raising my level, which I did sync the experience with it, I then gave my character the right amount of skill points available. I loaded the game and it said my save was corrupted. I then experimented and made a brand new character, at level 10 and did all the work for it, and it said my character was corrupt on that as well. What am I doing wrong?

    • djharris10 says:

I forgot to mention. I’m using this for the steam version.

    • Navi says:

I had a similar result when I changed the name of my Wilhelm file from 0001 to 0002. Then, I noticed the “Select Character” button, and I found my renamed save there. So, look for your modded save on the character select menu.

      • djharris10 says:

huh…it seemed to have had issue when i was using it on windows 10 technical preview, but when i do it on windows 7, it works like a charm, that’s at least one mystery solved

  41. toxic-x-legendsz says:

can anyone help me i get a sha1 errer code everytime i try and open it in Gibbed’s

  42. Router-Dude says:

This applies to the PC version of BL:TPS, not sure if it accurate for the other platforms.

I decided I needed to carry more ammo of each type with me. I found with testing that the each ammo type is limited to maximum of 99,999 or as close as you can get to that using SDUs without exceeding it. If you exceed 99,999 then a ‘rollover’ occurs meaning that 100,100 would be a limit of 101 rounds (100,100 – 99,999).

The following values if pasted into the “BlackMarketUpgrades” collection in the RAW section of the Gibbed editor will get you there:

    712
    997
    33329
    4995
    553
    8329
    99996
    5
    5
    829

I am not sure this is important, but I make sure that there is NO carriage return on the last line (829).

Now the next thing is adding ammo up to the new maximums .. standing in front of an ammo machine for 10 minutes buying ammo (think grenades at 3 per purchase to get to 99,999 … thats 33,333 purchases) … not to mention the needed money.

After you make the changes above stay in the RAW section of the Gibbed editor and go down to the “ResourceData” collection and open up.

Modify all 8 of the ResourceData to have an amount value of 99999 (no comma).

Save your changes and you should be golden.

Also beware that if you have not purchased all the SDUs from Earl for the character that you just modified … when you do purchase, you will exceed 99,999 and a rollover will happen .. meaning after the SDU purchase you will most likely have less than 200 rounds max of whichever type you purchased the SDU for. at that point just go modify back to the above values.

    R-D

    Hello,

I’ve been using Revision 7 for about a week now and its worked perfect. Just today I saved my game and it freezes my game right when it loads. When I try to open the game in Gibbed I get the error:

Failed to load save: LZO decompression falure (InputOverrun)

If I save the game from the Xbox to a usb drive it opens in Gibbed no problem but every time I save my changes it won’t open again gives me this error…

Hi Gibbed, brilliant work on the editor! I’ve been able to edit my characters with no issue.

I am finding something weird though, i’m editing my PS3 characters, and after loading the edited characters (And choosing Normal/True Vault Hunter mode) a blank box appears that just says OK/Cancel (Same as the mode select box) with no text inside it.

I’ve tried it both ways, and loads fine no matter which option you select, but I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and how to fix it?

I’m not sure if you mean Borderlands 1 or Borderlands 2…but no. For Borderlands 1 you need WillowTree, and Rick has a separate save editor for Borderlands 2, which is fully updated for all DLC content.
