It means it’s a protected achievement and can’t be unlocked with SAM.

been using SAM for a while for only a couple of games and it useful for the last 4 or 5 achievements you missed while playing
I’d like to use it for some achievements in Red Faction Guerrilla but it keeps telling me “Error retrieving stats: generic error”

turn on your netframework 3.5.1 by going to control panel -> instal/uninstal programs -> Turn Windows features on or off -> There you will find Microsoft .Netframework. If the box next to it is not blue, check it to make it blue.
Can you please link to the Steamworks info about “serverside” achievements? I fail to see why SAM could not pretend to be the game to spoof it?…
Achievements can be flagged as ‘serverside’ which indicates they can only be granted through a known and authenticated server (ie, dedicated/MMO servers).

Hey Rick, I can’t see the achievements for CrimeCraft Gang wars, and I really don’t want to download 10gigs worth of shit for a game that I’ll play 2 hours until I get my coal. Is this an error with SAM or is it not added yet or what? I’d rather pass of the game completely if I can’t SAM the achievement I need.

you must play tf2 so the hat will appear in your inventory. Also unlock all others xmas achievs otherwise u will not get it.

Login to the Steam account
Go to your Library
Right click the installed game and choose “Create desktop shortcut”
Go to your Desktop and locate the new shortcut
Right-click on the shortcut and select Properties
Look at the target path for the number following steam://rungameid/. This number is the Application ID for the game.

Is it possible to wind the clock in Steam. So? Include all the toys through the program. When we turn on automatically to the incentive shows that I play these games and wound the clock. Is it safe?
How long does retrieving stats take? No matter what game I pick, the achievements window is stuck at “Retrieving stat information…”
Someone else had this problem recently, exit Steam, delete ClientBlob.registry and restart Steam fixed it.

Alright, well, here’s my little problem. I just bought Rainbow Six Vegas 2, one copy for myself and my girlfriend. I already have completely beaten it on my Xbox 360, so I don’t want to go through the hassle again. I added the game to the achievement manager, with the correct app ID and all that, but when I try to modify the stats, I receive the message “Error while retrieving stats: generic error — this usually means you don’t own the game”. I know very little to nothing about files and whatnot, and some help would be appreciated. Thanks 😀

Not receiving any error messages, but when trying to switch some stats around in Alien Swarm (Mission related stats) some of them simply won’t update. Otheres updated once and won’t update again. I’ve tried resetting Steam and resetting SAM. I now come to you for some assistance.

Rick i know you made it but i seem to have found a way to change the playtime, i was screwing around when i found this so i dont know if i can replicate it. I’ll atttempt it later and post my results, if i fugure out how to do it completely i’ll post the steps…

Yeah, okay Rick i have figured out how to change the stats (e.g playtime, total kills, headshot count) i tested it on Alien Swarm and Gmod so i think it works for every single game.
1. open SAM and choose the game you want to modify, for me its going to be Alien Swarm.
2. When in SAM click on the “Statisitics” tab.
3. Scroll down until you find which Stat you want to change (e.g Total_kills = how many kills you got) for me i want to change “Playtime.total”
4. click on “I understand by modifying the values of stats, i may screw things up and can’t blame anyone but myself” button.
5. Modify the Value of the statistic you wanted to modify, i still haven’t figured out how to estimate how many hours and minutes its going to be…
when I figure out that i will update you on what to use and how to do it. credits go to Rick for making this program, and me for figuring this stuff out ( all though anyone could figure this stuff out if they had the time)
Forgot to say that after you do all of this you have to log out of steam then log back in, then check the stats on steam of the game you just “hacked” and you’ll see the changes.

It’s already on the list. If you don’t own it, it won’t show up. You cannot unlock achievements for games you do not own.

Hey Rick pal there is a way to u create a scanner from the real stats from the cloud. ‘Cause for one mistake mine, i pretty fucked up my PAYDAY The Heist statistics.
‘Cause i was trying to reset the stats. But in-game it has one part of the stats. Sooo it reset entirely on steam stats. But now in-game i have like 27373 kills and like 7831 headshots for example and on steam i should have 8000 kills, and 1670 hs.
